What Good is Your Wisdom?
In Chinese, we say 'lau chin yuen' meaning 'old wisdom'.
I had a chit chat with my taxi driver morning.
He said 'old wisdom' should be called 'obsolete wisdom'
In the days of old, you can boast that you have 20-year experience as a car mechanic.
But are such experience relevant today?
The car system has changed drastically. It doesn't work the way it used to be.
In fact, such 'wisdom' becomes a liability.
We have to learn to unlearn.
No wonder, organisations prefer to employ younger staff who have better qualification, up to date on the current technology and thinking and cheaper salary.
The older works are more costly, set in their ways, and less open to new ideas.
