Are Leaders Servants?
The concept of servanthood is lost to the modern generation.
Jesus said let the chief among you be the servant of all.
A function of a leader is to serve. The needs of his people comes first before his own needs.
A ship captain is the last to abandon ship.
The leader of the troops leads by the front.
You don't see a Red Indian Chief rally from behind? Do you.
A mother makes sure her children gets the best food while she eats the leftover.
A parent ensures the children are fed first.
But I don't see servanthood in practice.
The red carpet are laid for the VIP
A separate toilet is meant for the executive. And it has the extras such as shower facilities.
The management has the best TV, best computer, and the best office space
The management get the best of everything. Their priority is always first.
What happen to servanthood?
It is difficult for a poor soul to give to the church which spends millions of dollars to build a grand church with a half-million fountain. It is difficult for a poor struggling soul to give the few precious dollars when the church leaders are driving in luxurious cars and eat in restaurants.
A whistle blower revealed the dirt on a certain budget airline. The board of directors had recently given themselves a pay rise of as much as 30 per cent - at a time when other employees took a paycut - and applied it retrospectively for the previous six months.
There is a thing called legalised corruption. That means you pay people enough money so that they don't have to resort to illegal corruption. If you ask them why they are paid so much, they will reply you: "We are not Mother Teresa. We don't run a charity".
