How to be a World Class Sports Nation

How to be a World Class Sports Nation

The buzz-word of the day is 'World Class", as in world class defence, world class career, world class salary for world class scholars. Lately our sportspeople are not doing too well in the international arena. Too busy studying or making a living. Where got time to take an afternoon off for practice?

So, our bright management brought in some foreign talents and won us some gold medals. You see some of these foreign imports in table tennis, badminton and soccer. Born in China, breed in Singapore. At one time, the CEO set the vision for our football team to reach the world's final by 20xx.

Since we are good at importing foreign talents, why not import the whole Brazil team and offer them a Singapore passport? One of them was given a Singapore citizen. He earned about half a million after less than 10 years, and was able to afford to buy 5 houses in Brazil. When his service was no longer required cos he is deemed too old for the sport, he decides to pack his bag and go home. Afterall, for half a milllion, you can't even buy a field big enough to kick a ball around, in Singapore. In Singapore, only the very rich can roll out of their bed and kiss God's sacred land. For the rest of the folks, you can kiss the marble floor, stacked somewhere in the concrete jungle.
